TestimonialsChris:
I had worked with Dozer and he achieved his Started Title, but with my limited training grounds and the people to train with, I knew I would have to look to a Pro Trainer to advance Dozer to the level that I knew he was capable of. Dozer was with you for 3 months that first fall, but I could already tell changes taking place when I got him back for his first hunting season. We had talked about what I wanted and my goal was to have an HRCH title, this would also give me a great duck hunting dog. You continued with his training again the following Feb., by March he earned his UH title, in April his HR title and then in July is HRCH title, what an exciting summer, all this accomplished by the time Dozer was 30 months of age. I look forward to having Dozer with you again this summer, (07). My wife and I were able to make it to a number of the HRC Hunt Tests to watch you run Dozer, as well as your other dogs you were running. The first time I saw you come to the line with Dozer was so unlike the first started test I ran him Dozer literally pulled me over the top of the holding blind. Now to see him, calm, and nothing but business, it's great. He had a great hunting season as well. I also had the chance to go along with you to the 2006 Fall Grand in Georgia, where Dozer made it to the 2nd series. The two weeks that I spent with you, truly gave me an understanding how you train to this level and do it on a daily basis. The understanding you have with each dog individually, the care that you give all the dogs on your truck, and the dedication that you have towards this sport is truly amazing. Any time you need a recommendation, just let me know. Tom Phillips
Chris, I remember meeting you the first time at a Hunt test in North Platte when I was running Abby in Started. As I watched you handle the dogs and go about your routine with the dogs, I saw a good work ethic and dedication to your work. I called you a few months later to have you correct my error. I had not completely finished my Force Fetch training with Abby. You resolved the problem in a matter of weeks and we were back hunting.
Not the titles, but the days in the field or blind with a well-mannered and well-trained dog, bring a great amount of pleasure to those of us who enjoy hunting. Abby is certainly a pleasure to be with in any environment. I have received a lot of compliments on her and couldn't be prouder. I can't thank you enough and will gladly be a reference for you anytime. I'm impressed with the individual attention each dog gets at Flatlander Kennels. You train them individually according to their personalities and abilities, and I have come to understand that each dog has their own time frame for progression and mastering the skills taught by you. We look forward to having our new family member, Reba spend time at Flatlander Kennels. I know that you and Cayden develop some special relationships with the dogs that you train. It shows whenever we mention your name around Abby and I know that Reba will enjoy the same experience at Flatlander too. It is not easy entrusting your best friend with someone for several months at a time. I would only let another best friend do that. Thanks Chris. Rick Meyer
I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you have put into training with Brie! Your training techniques really show results, especially when it comes time to take your retriever up to the line. The advanced training you have done with my dog is outstanding. I thought her bugging problem she had when I brought her to you was incurable. I only wish I could have been there when at the Elkhorn HRC hunt to see you get Brie's HRCH ribbon. Thanks for everything!!! Rick Freeze
Just a quick note to say thank you for doing a wonderful job of training Cody. Just a few short months ago he was difficult to handle at best. Now thanks to you and going the extra mile he is a wonderful dog. He put on quite a show this morning at the park there must have been at least 15 people watching with amazement as Cody made water retrieves. Thanks for your patience with Cody, Donna and I will enjoy him for years to come. If you ever need a reference let me know written or otherwise. I will bring Katie my other golden to you this November for her training. Tom & Donna Corrick
Of course, the real reason I wanted another lab was to hunt. Both he and I are ready! Last year I had a ton of compliments from many people that had the opportunity to hunt with Jake. He's a born hunter and has desire that is unsurpassed by any dog that I have hunted with. His stamina is amazing for a lab as he can go all day like a pointer, and the best part he is superbly trained thanks to you! Any time you want, don't hesitate to use me as a reference. What you have done is truly appreciated in the training of a good obedient hunting companion and a great hunt test competitor. Gary Henning
PS - I really enjoyed meeting your family and working with you last week. Now, I just hope I can remember how you trained me!
Here is a statement that I will stand by!! My name is Tony Solie, the owner of PlatteValley Retrievers in North Platte, NE. Chris has trained and still is training dogs for me. He understands what a dog needs! He doesn't push a dog through training too fast. He absolutely makes sure that the dog is ready to move on before he proceeds forward to the next phase of training. Chris understands the game of hunting and what it takes to make a champion in the Hunt Test area as well. The most important thing to me is NOT if my dogs get a title, but that they are taken care of. Chris goes over and above what a person would think. He treats my dogs like they are his and he loves them like they are his. They get worked daily and aired out daily. I would highly recommend Chris at Flatlander Kennels to anyone who would want a dog trained and/or campaigned. Tony Solie
We met Chris a few years ago at a Hunt test in North Platte, Nebraska. He was running a golden retriever of his mother's. David was running Hunter, a golden retriever, so we got to talking about dogs. So we sent him one of our goldens to train. Well we went up to do some training with him and took Striker with us. Chris said that is the dog we should have in training, so we did! Striker has done extremely well and we are very proud of his accomplishments. He has earned three titles in less than a year under Chris, Seasoned, Upland and Finished. Then he went on the next year to get his 500 points! Next we are going for the 1000! As you can see by the many dogs and their accomplishments that Chris is training, speaks well for Chris. We have watched Chris train many times, and he really has his techniques down. He has a great training program. He loves the dogs and you can see that they love him too. If you are thinking about a hunt test or hunting dog and want him trained professionally - Chris will do a great job! Thanks so much for the job well done on Striker! David and Lee Ann Heldt
As a dog owner, you will want to know that Chris is fair, patient, and understanding of a dog's learning abilities. He has an easy manner about him that puts the dogs at ease. He takes small incremental steps to help build the confidence and strength in each dog. Chris understands each dog's weaknesses and adapts his training methods to correspond to each dog's ability. The finesse and patience that Chris demonstrates shows in the dogs and their happiness and willingness to perform for him. They WANT to please him and they try very hard for him. Chris does not leave any detail untouched and sees that each dog has a comfortable living area, exercise, training, days off to lounge in the sun for a great balance. If you are thinking of placing a dog with Chris, I can assure you that your dog will have the care and love that you would offer at home and your dog will come home happy and eager. Your dog will also come home with a solid foundation that Chris has built with training methods that he revolves around each individual dog. The highest compliment I can pay anyone is to entrust my dog to their care. I have done just that with Chris as he is currently training my best dog for the 2005 Spring Grand and I am confident that Chris will make my dog better no matter what happens in the upcoming competition.
